One of the main rules of DJing and making up party playlists for some people is ???never slow down???. For Andrew Shkin AKA DJ Randm this might be applied to his whole DJ career. As many DJs out there he started playing house music at private parties, but he made it to the clubs only after turning to drumandbass music. And with dnb he started with mixing soulful and melodic tunes later tending to more mainstream stuff without loosing what one might call his own style. The music that influenced Andrew reminds of something you might expect to be liked by John B: lots of 80s music, lots of electro, and lots of vocal tracks.

He also happened to be the first Belarusian DJ that decided not to take part in the everlasting Vinyl vs. CD argument and started playing using a laptop and a midi-controller. Right now everyone is mixing digital tracks and recordings, but back when he started playing in clubs the early 2007 it was quite a bold move and he was the first DJ in the country to try the 100% digital way. As it ceased to be a novelty he started adding vinyl to his record collection though. Now it’s about 50/50.

Now in 2009 he is one of the few Minsk dnb DJs who is likely to be booked by almost any local promoter and does not just stick to some small communities that love some certain dnb subgenre. He is also the one who has got the highest position among the local dnb DJs in the ongoing DJ-Battle 2008 contest.

Stone People are the Belarussian answer to Chemical Brothers, Crystal Method, The Prodigy and FatBoy Slim. You know the drill: you get breakbeats (lots of them), of the dirty, explosive, and, yes, unforgettable variety. Of course, their music is extremely danceable. And they even manage to pull it off without sampling obsolete guitar music simply for novelty??™s sake ??” make no mistake, Stone People are about as real as you??™re going to get.

At night, he??™s the driving force behind Stone People, supremely cool during live shows with a cigarette dangling from his lips, one eye on the dance floor and another one on his computer screen, intensely serious working on one of a myriad of musical projects in his home studio.

Andrey: runs a furniture business. You may also be interested to know he??™s Stone People??™s guitarist. He started out his musical career as a punk rock guitarist, but we??™ll forgive him for that.

The band have already achieved legendary status in clubbing world of the Belarussian capital Minsk. Before the first 100 copies of their album (distributed as self-produced CDrs) were sold, Minsk CD vendors felt the need to pirate their material. Stone People??™s music has also been featured in TV commercials (without, it must be said, the band being informed of this or receiving royalties ??” copyrights are quite the alien concept in Belarus) and on compilation CDs with MP3 files, where they were featured alongside Crystal Method and the Chemical brothers.
